Installation Precautions:
The magnetic sheet is safety-coated and has been reliably used on vehicles for over three decades. With a little care, it will help preserve your car’s original condition.
Before you install the bra, wax the hood and then reapply wax every six months. For extra protection, you can also wax the underside of the bra.
Avoid using the bra on a freshly painted car. Paints that aren’t OEM may blister if they haven’t fully cured, as the bra can trap vapors that need to escape. If in doubt, check with your paint shop. (This doesn’t apply to new factory-painted cars.)
Never lay the bra on the ground or let it come into contact with iron or steel particles, such as those found in body or machine shops. The bra can pick up these particles, and over time, they may scratch your car’s finish. Even non-magnetic particles can stick to the bra, so be sure to wipe it clean with a damp cloth before installing it on the hood.
Always use the edge trim. Without it, the bra may come loose at high speeds.
Recommended Installation for Your Magnetic Car Bra:
Warm the bra to room temperature or higher before unrolling it. Ensure both the hood and the bra are clean, and avoid sliding the bra across the hood to prevent scratches from any grit that might be present. Instead, adjust it using a wave-like motion, moving one finger under the bra as you go.
The front edge should not extend past the hood, and the side edges should be warmed and folded under the sides of the hood (refer to the diagram). Use heat and the edge trim to smooth out any wrinkles on the front edge. Make sure the edge trim is fully pressed on, particularly along the sides. The side with the rubber lip should go underneath the hood (see picture).
If the trim buckles at the corners or seems too loose, pinch and reinstall it. The trim is flexible and can stretch or compress. If the trim feels too short or long, partially remove it and adjust it so the ends meet at the back corners of the bra. Don’t try to stretch only the last few inches.
Smooth the bra so it creates a tight seal with no gaps. If the temperature is below 75°F, make sure the hood is warm from driving. You can also use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm the bra, especially in areas where it needs to flex around curves, the hood’s edges, or any emblems. Bending the material while it’s cold could cause it to crack.
Cleaning Your Magnetic Car Bra:
To clean, remove the edge trim and lift one side of the bra at a time. Wipe both the bra and the hood with a damp cloth, using mild soap if needed. Afterward, lift the other side and repeat the process. The bra should return to its original position if you don’t remove it entirely. Avoid using solvents or abrasive cleaners. If a solvent is necessary, you can apply WD-40 to a cloth for cleaning.
Care for Your Magnetic Car Bra:
You can apply car wax or vinyl polish to the bra for maintenance. Always handle it carefully, especially in cold weather. Sharp bends when the material is cold can cause it to crack, tear, or form bubbles. Improper storage or rough handling can also damage the bra. When removing it, lift it by the ends rather than from the center.
